Resumo:
Nesta linha de pesquisa são abordadas questões fundamentais sobre algumas doenças neurodegenerativas, em especial os mecanismos envolvidos em cada uma delas. Ao mesmo tempo, procuramos avaliar possíveis estratégias terapêuticas para neuroproteção, no sentido de controlar a progressão daquelas doenças. Nestes estudos, empregamos ratos e camundongos, normais ou modificados geneticamente, e uma combinação de metodologias, incluindo cirurgias estereotáxicas, imunofluorescência, imunoperoxidase, Western blots e PCR em tempo real.
Abstract:
Our main goal is to approach fundamental questions about some neurodegenerative diseases, in particular the mechanisms involved in each case. At the same time, we seek to evaluate therapeutic strategies for neuroprotection, in order to minimize the progression of those pathological processes. In these studies, we employ rats and mice, either normal or genetically modified, and a combination of methods, including stereotaxic surgery, immunofluorescence, immunoperoxidase, Western blotting and real-time PCR.
