Resumo: Nosso interesse é estudar mecanismos moleculares envolvidos na expressão de comportamentos emocionais, tais como a agressividade, ansiedade e depressão. As pesquisas conduzidas em nosso laboratório utilizam modelos animais (camundongos e ratos), onde através de análises comportamentais bem estabelecidas caracterizamos as alterações induzidas por agentes farmacológicos, situações ambientais e sociais na expressão da emocionalidade. Procuramos entender os mecanismos biológicos em diferentes áreas cerebrais associados a estes comportamentos, com o objetivo de indicar e orientar novas linhas de tratamentos farmacológicos para transtornos psiquiátricos, onde estas alterações comportamentais são evidentes. Empregamos técnicas genético/moleculares para atingir estes objetivos.

Abstract: The group is interested in the molecular mechanisms involved in the expression of emotional behaviors such as aggression, anxiety and depression. The research conducted in the laboratory uses animal models (mice and rats) in well-established behavioral tests to characterize the changes induced by pharmacological agents, environmental and social situations in the expression of emotionality. They seek to understand the biological mechanisms in different brain areas associated with these behaviors, in order to indicate and guide new lines of pharmacological treatments for psychiatric disorders where these behavioral changes are evident. Genetic/molecular techniques are employed to achieve these goals
