Resumo: Nos últimos anos, o grupo vem mostrando de forma consistente o papel da resposta inflamatória em doenças renais, autoimunes, obesidade, câncer e em transplante de órgãos. Mais recentemente, o grupo vem estudando como a resposta imune é regulada nestas doenças e qual o papel de vias e sensores metabólicos em células do sistema imune, em especial, células T, B, macrófagos, neutrófilos e dendríticas. A interface do sistema imune com as mucosas e a microbiota também é estudada no laboratório. Ainda, o laboratório estuda a resposta inflamatória em peixes-zebra, com modelagem de doenças e estudo de microbiota.
Abstract: In the recent years, the group has consistently shown the role of the inflammatory response in kidney and autoimmune diseases, obesity, cancer and in organ transplantation. More recently, the group has focused on studying how the immune response is regulated in these diseases and the putative role for metabolic pathways and sensors in cells of the immune system, especially T and B cells, macrophages, neutrophils and dendritic cells. The interface of the immune system with mucosa and the microbiota is also studied in the laboratory. Also, the laboratory studies the inflammatory response in zebrafish with disease modeling and microbiota analyses.
