Resumo: Nosso grupo investiga os mecanismos moleculares subjacentes às funções elementares da célula (proliferação, migração, diferenciação e morte celular) e como esses estão alterados nas neoplasias da glândula mamária. Objetivos: 1. Investigar molecular e funcionalmente a interação de maspina com os parceiros proteicos recentemente identificados; 2. Investigar o papel biológico de maspina in vivo, através da supressão de sua expressão em células mamárias e transplante dessas células no estroma mamário; 3. Investigar a função de klotho (um novo hormônio) na glândula mamária murina, utilizando animais deficientes nessa proteína.
Abstract: Our group investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying elementary cell function (proliferation, migration, differentiation and cell death) and how these processes are altered in mammary gland neoplasia. Objectives: 1. To investigate the molecular and functional interaction between maspin and its recently identified protein partners; 2. To investigate maspin biological function in vivo, by suppressing maspin expression in mammary cells and transplanting them into cleared fat pad; 3. To investigate klotho function (a new hormone) in the murine mammary gland using klotho-deficient mice.
