Resumo: A linha de pesquisa do laboratório consiste no estudo molecular das maquinarias celulares envolvidas nas diversas funções das células do sistema imune, tanto em situações de homeostasia quanto em resposta a infecções. Os principais tipo celulares estudados no laboratório são os macrófagos, as células dendríticas e os linfócitos T. Atualmente, o foco principal do laboratório é o papel das proteínas motoras miosinas nas interações de linfócitos, macrófagos e células dendríticas com o vírus HIV-1. O laboratório trabalha com o cultivo de células humanas primárias, linhagens celulares, técnicas de RNAi, assim como de virologia, imunologia, bioquímica e microscopia.
Abstract: Our research line consists in studying the intracellular machineries involved in the various functions performed by cells of the immune system, both in homeostasis and in response to infection. The main cell types the group works with are macrophages, dendritic cells and T lymphocytes. Currently, the main focus of our research is the role of myosin motors in the interactions between myeloid cells (DCs and macrophages), T lymphocytes and HIV-1. The lab works with primary human cells as well as cell lines, and uses RNAi techniques, microscopy, virological, immunological and biochemical assays.
